Hello

Hello and welcome to the Jings Things blog! I thought as part of this little introductory post I'd explain the background behind the name Jings Things. Since I was little (about 7 or so) I've been a big fan of two Scottish comic strips called The Broons and Oor Wullie. The strips appear each week in the Sunday Post newspaper and are also published annually as books. I've built up quite a collection now and have all the annuals dating back to 1960 as well as various other pieces of memorabilia.

The stories are all written in Scottish dialect and one of the words the characters frequently use is 'Jings'. It's basically an exclamation of surprise or something unexpected. Since I started out jewellery making my aim has always been to create pieces that are fun, quirky and a bit different so I felt the word could make an appropriate name. The things was added for the rhyming element. So there we have it, a brief introduction to Jings Things.
